Satie's 'Gymnopedies,' published in 1888 were three piano compositions, each written in 3/4 time and sharing a common theme and structure. Gymnopedie No. 1 is perhaps the most well-known of the three, and the dreamy, ambient nature of the music lends itself very well to romantic and contemplative scenes.
