'The Girl with the Flaxen Hair' ('La fille aux cheveux de lin') is the eighth prelude from Debussy's 'Preludes, Book I.' The piece begins with a delicate arpeggio motif, from which much of the following music is derived. The piece builds in tension and volume towards a climax in the middle of the piece, before winding down for a tender, relaxing ending. The melancholic, dreamy nature of the piece lends itself very well to romantic and reflective scenes, and it has appeared in several TV and film soundtracks for this purpose. This performance uses a perfectly sampled Yamaha C3 Neo grand piano, with subtle hall reverb for ambience.
